Is Norethisterone Effective In Treatment Of Irregular Periods?

Hi I am 31 years old,marriage women. I had my last periods on march 2016 which lasted for 7 days Now its been three months and I still haven t got my periods yet. I did pregnancy test and it came out to be negative.then my friend suggested me to take norethisterone 10mg 2 times a day for 1 weeks. I want to know if I should take this medicine or not?it is same with provera 5mg?I do have history of irregular menstruation. Please help me. Thank you

Hello,

* Norethisterone is useful in number of gynec conditions with hormone imbalance issues where there are delayed periods.

* There will be withdrawal bleed once the medicine is stopped after consumption of 3-4 days duration.

Still, each case is individual as per the underlying clinical condition, need of medications considering its advantages and side effects and then consultant decides to give certain molecule.

I will highly recommend to consult your doc before starting the medicine for best results and avoid any untoward event.
