Is Opdivo Advisable For Metastatic Renal Cell Carcinoma?
I have metastic renal cell ca. I took votrient for two years and six month then had to stop it because of severe Weight loss .i also had radiation which did not seem to work.my oncologist is now considering the new drug Opdivo.what are your thoughts regarding the success of this drug. Thank you in advance for your input.
* As per my surgical experience, the Opdivo ( Nivolumab ) is a monoclonal antibody originally approved for use in lung cancer , now used in variety of oncological disorders including that of metastatic melanoma, kidney cancer and others.
It is the immune modulation approach which helps your body cells of T and B group to fight against the cancer cells.
However, individual response depends upon multiple parameters and the same has to be evaluated considering pros and cons of the therapy side effects.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel
