Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I will like to know about PSA because my husband went to the doctor his regular test and his doctor call to say his PSa is 21 and he have to do some prodcure should do it after Thanksgiving but I keep asking him if he hear from the doctor or call the doctor but he keep saying no and not giving me any real answer . I am concern and will like to know
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice. PSA level of 21 is high and may indicate a prostate disease including prostate cancer. Once PSA levels are increased doctor may do a prostate biopsy to rule out cancer, I think your doctor asked you for that. Prostatitis can also lead to increased PSA levels.
I will ask you to not worry too much and go forward with the procedure as there are several other causes other than cancer leading to PSA elevation.
Let me know if this was helpful and do ask if you have any further questions.
Regards, Dr. Akash Kumar
