Is Polyfax And Bacitracin Advisable To Treat Lip Injury?

Hi,My son got cut from his teeth on his lip when we fell. I used a very small amount of Ployfax Skin Ointment (polymyxin B Sulphate BP[10,000units]+ bacitracin zinc BP [500units] + petrolatum base [1G]). So, should i worry if he swallowed small amount of it?

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

As per your complain Polyfax ointment is used for external use and is not to be swallowed..

But in case if negligible amount is swallowed then it will not cause any serious side effects and it seems that your son is not having any side effects...

You should therefore consult a Pedodontist and get him evaluated and he can advise you antibiotic ointment for oral use like chlorohexidine for preventing infection..

Hope this helps..

Regards.
