Hello and welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice

Lopid is composed of 'Gemfibrozil', which belongs to a group of drugs known as fibrates. It is used to lower lipid levels.
Pravastatin belongs to the drug class of statins, which is used in combination with diet and exercise, for lowering cholesterol and preventing cardiovascular disease.
The recommended starting dose is 40 mg once daily. If a daily dose of 40 mg does not achieve desired cholesterol levels, then 80 mg once daily is recommended.
Probably, your doctor could have asked you to check blood glucose before meals to know about its levels, as increase in glucose level also contributes to increase in cholesterol level, and it's metabolism also needs to be regulated.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
