Is Primolut Depot Safe For The Foetus When Travelling 7 Hrs By Air During 35th Week Of Pregnancy?

Hi i am 34 years old and 35 weeks pregnant. I am taking a 7 hours flight to my mom's place for delivery in two days from today. My gynecologist administered 2 ampoules of 250 mg Primolut Depot (hydroxyprogesterone caproate) for a safe travel. Is it ok.? Will it affect fetus? YYYY@YYYY

Hi,
Thanks for the query.
Continuous traveling can induce premature uterine contractions sometimes.
Possibly because of that your doctor might have advised progesterone injection.
Hydroxyprogesterone caproate belongs to category B drugs in pregnancy according to FDA.
Means according to animal studies no risk to the fetus is reported whereas sufficient human studies are lacking.
So, you can take the drug as advised by your doctor.
During journey better to walk for 5 to 10 minutes after every 2 hours of sitting.
Use foot rests or stockings.
Take care.
