Is Quercetrin And Psorinum Advisable For Eczema In A Child?

My daughter suffers from eczema since about 1 year old. She is now 3 yr old. Just about 6 month ago, she started waking up the middle of the night due to extreme itchiness. Mostly in forearms, including the folds, scalp and neck area. I gave her Quercetrin and psorium before bed time and Histaminum Hydrochloricum when she scratches hard and waking up in the middle of the night, usually around 3AM. Can you please tell me what else can be done to cure this? Desperately need to be able to sleep through the night.

Short answer: Perhaps give mainstream medication a try?

Long answer:
Hi there,

I notice that your management so far tends to be focused on homeopathic remedies. I would unfortunately not be able to help you with that, but it would be useful to know if you have tried mainstream medication, and what type.

To manage the current problem of her waking up at night, I usually recommend an antihistamine that makes her drowsy e.g. chlorpheniramine, because that will help her sleep through. It is completely safe because she is already 3 years of age, and it is advisable to use it only at night, because it doesn't help much with daytime itching.

Unfortunately eczema is not something that can be cured, it needs constant management with moisturisers and lifestyle modifications, and rescue medication when needed. The bright side is that she is still young, and many children improve as they grow older.

Please let me know if you are interested in further explanation on the day-to-day management of eczema. Do not be afraid to medicate her, as the stress from the poor sleep and constant itching will affect the whole family.

I hope this helps.

Regards,
Dr. Teh
