Is Rabeprazole Intake Safe During Pregnancy?

Hello Doctor, I am 33 years old female. I have a son. He is 4 years old. Last year I was diagnosed with GERD and I am taking Rabeprazole sodium delayed release tablet 20 mg one a day. Now we are planning for another baby. Is it safe to take this Medication while trying for baby and during pregnancy? Thanks, Sri

Hi Sri..you are planning to get pregnant and you want to know about safety of rabeprazole during pregnancy.According to US FDA this comes under category- C means animal reproduction studies have shown an adverse effect foetus and no adequate well controlled study in humansl.Take care.
