Is Rinifol Advisable For An Infant With Watery Stools?

My son is 6 months old, since last whole week he is suffering with loose motions. Doctor gave him Econorm sachets n asked to have normal diet of rice kanji n suji kheer. As my son didn t have fever , doc didn t give him antibiotics. But it s now 6 th day of these loose motions.. Since Friday frequency of motions have come down from 8-10 times a day to 3-4 times day.. He is teething n trying hard to crawl , can understand its normal but I feel his weight is reduced.. My doctor said Rinifol won t make difference but after reading your answers to many moms, I feel I should take yo view about Rinifol. Please guide, should I give n if yes, how much dose?

Hi,

Both are probiotics, and will not make much difference. Econorm is good enough.
Instead, you can give him Zinc. Give Z & D drops (20mg/ml) 0.5ml once daily for 2 weeks. This will hasten recovery of bowel health. Giving yogurt also is good. If there is no fever or bloody stools, we need not worry at all.
