Is SGPT Level Of 157 A Cause For Concern?

hi my sgpt level is 157. my mother died of liver cirrhosis, my brother who is not drinking has also a sgpt of 145. I do drink occasionally now but before, I used to drink a lot. I have not been conscious about my diet as I have gained weight the past months. I am fond of fast food like pizza, burger and fries. and at home I eat fried dishes but when I found out about my sgpt level, I tried to control my diet. two weeks ago I had tonsilitis and fever, before my blood test results came out the doctor gave me essentiale because I have yellowish eyes. but after my fever was gone my eyes s color were back to normal. what shall I do?

I have gone through your and being your physician i completely understand your health concerns.
for how long u are suffering from it? any other associated problem? like diabetes or hytertension? are u having fever?
Raised SGPT should always alert physician that something is going wrong with the liver. There are a lot of differentials in this regards most common ones include FATTY LIVER DISEASE , HCV HBV ALCHOHOL INTAKE and METABOLLIC LIVER DISEASE.
if i am ur attending doctor i will look for the pathology first . i will get ur FBC LFTS SCREENING HBV HCV AND OTHER DISEASES WHICH MAY INCLUDE METABOLLIC AND AUTOIMMUNE DISEASE. i will get ur ultrasound scan to look for the texture of the liver too.
meanwhile stay calm and meet HEPATOLOGIST so that u can be examined and investigated properly..
