Is SGPT Value Of 84 A Cause For Concern?

I m 35 aged male my shot is 84and sgot 28.2 iam diabetic since 4 year.iwas also taking alcohol since 5-6year my weight is 82 Kgs. Itakes medicines for sugar and hypertension.please tell me about sgpt.how much dangerous it is?what to do now.ihave left alcohol now.

Your case:
• 35 years old male
• Diabetes and hypertension (currently on medicine)
• Stopped drinking alcohol 5 to 6 years ago
• Weight 82 kilograms

Your actual concern is regarding the level of SGPT = 84 while SGOT is 28.2. In your case, the most probable causes to high SGPT levels include inflammation of your liver (hepatitis) most probable due to alcohol consumption (alcoholic liver disease) and/or steatosis.

Further abdominal ultrasound and other liver panel tests are required to check your liver status:
• Blood albumin
• Coagulation panel (prothrombin time -- PT and INR)
• Bilirubin

After getting all these reports and compare with others you had previously we can determine the grade of damage to your liver. For the moment, changes in diet and lifestyle regimen recommended together with starting Silymarin supplement.
