Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Incomplete data like the age of your son? Both of these medications contain the same antibiotics but in different doses.

Based on the history given, your son seems to be receiving the Solodyn drug for the treatment of acne. It is the usual dose for children aged 12 years or an adult is 1 mg/kg body weight once daily.

Solodyn and Minocycline are the brand formulations of the same drug Minocycline which is a tetracycline antibiotic. However, the brand Minocycline 135 mg is having larger dose as compared to Solodyn.

I advise you to consult his treating dermatologist about the dosage of the refill medication.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Mohammed Taher Ali
