Is Soma Advisable For Constant Pain And Spams In The Body?

Why cant I get my current Dr.s to prescribe SOMA. I have used it for years, and it has always worked VERY well. I have tried everything from Flexeril (Tizanidine) to Cyclobenza, and everything in between. My current Dr. says he has no problem with me going somewhere else to get Soma just he won t give me a script for it. Smells like he is covering his butt at my expense. I am in constant pain, with continually spasms. Spasms are so bad they keep me a wake all night long. And I mean ALL night. I have not slept, except passing out, in over 3 weeks and I am headed for another trip to the hospital if this keeps up. I know what works, it has for 20 years; Soma 350 mg every 6 hours. My former pain management Dr. had no problem writting it fpoor me, but he moved to Long Beach to taker over a clinic there. Have tried at least 12 Dr.s so far, none will [prescribe SOMA. Should I head to Mexico, I spend my nights and days hoping a spasm doesn t hit and I end up on the floor. I actually broke my right hip coming down the stairs, carefully, when a s[asm hit and caused me to fall and fracture my hip, for which I had to have emergency surgery. This has been going on fr 20 years. Trying to get a Pain Pump put in, but they wont give me enough medication to make any difference. I have always been this way; even as a child I had to have 5-6 Novocaine shots to fill a tooth. I know, what a bummer! I wish I could just look at a pill and it would knock me out. You wouldn t believe all that i Have been called, even by those in the medical profession. Before I was thrown to these wolves/Dr.s I was doing fairly well, at least I had a life. I was taking: 1 Fentynal Duragesic Patch 75 mcg every 2 days/48 hours; 2 Norco-Hydro/Codone 10/325 every 6 hours; 1-10 mg Valium every 6 hours with 1 extra at night to help sleep; 1 Soma 350 mg every 4-6 hours as needed. 12 Actiq (Fentynal) Sucker for breakthrough pain. I have had 3 major Back Surgeries, and 1 emergency Hip surgery, all of which have failed. The Diagnosis is: Severe Permanent Nerve Damage. Will have to take medications for rest of life. That is why I am trying the Pain Pump. I am in the 3rd level of trials. BUT, In the mean time I cannot Do ANYTHING. ALL Activity of any sort sen ds my pain skyrocketing through the roof and I have been given nothing to help with it. I need someone that understands and can help. Thanks For listening, There s More, BUT I have taken too much of your valuable time for someone like me. Thanks Again, Mark S. Hicks, M.S. General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

* As there is long term consumption of analgesic, there is receptor level adaption and the body will not adjust to its absence.

* I would recommend a hospital admission for controlling acute pain conditions and later prescription support of the same treating physician.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
