Is St. John S Wort Advisable For Normal Persons As A Memory Booster?

Dear Doctor, I am looking to purchase a memory supplement that contains st. john s wort. The product describes that st. john s wort is added because this ingredient is known to help improve memory. However, I am aware that St. John s Wort is normally used for depression. However, can people who do not have depression take supplements that contain St. John s Wort(for memory and mental clarity)? In other words, is it safe for non-depressed healthy people to use supplements that contain St. John s Wort for memory?

Dr. Hanif warmly Welcomes you!

Thanks for consulting at my virtual clinic. I have carefully worked through your case, and I can realize your health worries. Being your physician, I assure you not to worry as I will take care all of your medical concerns.

No, it's neither recommended for use in healthy people, nor has it any benefits for them. St. John's Wort has no effect on memory improvement. National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine (NCCAM) has conducted an extensive research on St. John's Wort and have found benefits no more than a placebo for treating mild depression.

I don't recommend it for you, for this off label use of memory improvement.

Hope it helps. If you need further, detailed and quick assistance related to any health issues in future, feel free to 'ask me a question' directly from my profile.

Have a wonderful time ahead.

Best Regards!
