Is TSH Level Of 0.01 A Cause For Concern?

Hyperthyroidism : I just had my thyroid tested : TSH 0,01. Is that dangerous ? 10 years ago I had 0,004. A specialist said, that these number might be normal for me, because I did and do not have any symptoms. 10 years ago I got medication for a period of 1,5 years and then I took homoeopathic pills for a few months and I had very good TSH numbers (6.00) until now. What should I do now ? Going through the same process ? I had also an ultrasound done and it showed, that the thyroid has still the same size. Can I start to use only alternative medicine again, or is it too dangerous ?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello dear
I understand your concern
Normal TSH level is 0.4 ‑ 4.0 mIU/L.
Your level is 0.01 and it is too low.
It suggest you have hyperthyroidism.
High level of thyroid hormone suppress the TSH level.
I would suggest endocrinologist and go for thyroid profile tests like free T3, free T4, T3 uptake, Anti TPO for better management.
You should take proper care regarding regular follow up and treatment.
Drugs like propylthiouracil, methimazole and beta blocker will be given after clinical examination.
So trust me consult the endocrinologist and get proper treatment.
Hope I have answered your query

Contact further if follow up needed
Best regards
Dr. Sagar
