Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Is Terazosin A Good Alternative Of Amlodipine And Alfuzosin?
I am currently taking Amlodipine, 10 mg, for mild hypertension (with good results) plus 2 meds for excessive nocturnal urination:Alfuzosin 10 mg and Oxybutynin ER 10 mg, (with disappointing results). Would one prescription for Terazosin be more effective (or just as effective) as these three I m currently taking? I m 71 years old, 175 lbs and fairly active. I don t think I would have any further complications or contraindications so I look forward to hearing from you. thank you, YYYY@YYYY
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Terazosin is a selective alpha-1 antagonist used for treatment of symptoms of an enlarged prostate. Since it also acts to lower the blood pressure, it is a drug of choice for men with hypertension and prostate enlargement. Kindly consult with your doctor before changing the medication.
Hope the information provided helps.
All the best.
Regards,
Dr.Ashakiran.S.
