Is Tonsillectomy Safe And Effective For Treatment Of Tonsillitis?
I suffer from acute tonsilittis. Off late, I am coming down with tonsilittis at least once a month and am having pencilin 250 every time for about 7 or 10 days. I have been advised Tonsilltectomy and am awaiting the date of the operation. I have had a second opinion from certain doctors and they have said that tonsillectomy at my age ( 32 years) can lead to severe chest or lung infections in the future and i should look for homeopathic remedies. What should I do as I am pretty confused.
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..
As per your complain in case if you are getting tonsillitis every month and getting treated with antibiotics for 8 to 10 days then the permanent solution for it seems to be surgical removal of tonsils known as Tonsillectomy.. In case if you are otherwise fit and healthy with no medical history then chances of fatal illness after tonsillectomy is not probable and you can very much get it done to relieve discomfort caused due to recurring infections.. You should consult an ENT surgeon and get a thorough evaluation done and in case if he finds everything normal you can get the tonsillectomy done and do not look for other options without an expert advise..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards. Dr. Honey Nandwani Arora.
