Is Tylenol Safe To Give A Toddler With Fever Due To Teething?

My baby is 13 months old and has had a fever since yesterday varying from 99.8 to 101.9. We have been giving him Tylenol every six hours but he seems to maybe be teething because as of yet he has no teeth. Should we take him in because of his fever? Or is it not too hot yet? His mouth seems really sensitive and anytime we try to look to see if he has teeth he turns away and clamps his mouth shut. He has a normal appetite just seems extra sleepy and fussy. What should we do to help him reduce his fever besides tylenol?

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

So sorry to hear about your problem and will try my level best to resolve it..

As per your complain if your baby has sensitive mouth along with fever then it can be probably due to teething while can also be due to viral infection..
Giving tylenol is appropriate as it will help in reducing fever as well as pain..
But for confirmation of the exact cause you need to get him evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like blood test [ if needed] can help in diagnosis and treatment can be done accordingly..
As of now you can continue giving him tylenol and along with it do cool compresses over the gums..
You can also give him cool and bland foods..
Give him plenty of fluids and sufficient rest..

Any further questions are welcome..

Regards..
