Is Tylenol With Codeine Advisable For A Lung Cancer Patient?
Hi dr. My husband is using the fentany patches for pain (25 mc), is not helping he stared yesterday,he wants to take Tylenol with codeine,Do you think is okay?He has a lung tumor (cancer) and he is in pain,he has try Percocet ,tramadol,Tylenol with codeine and ibuprofen 800 ml.Now he just stared the patches but last night it didn t help,I don t know if he can take Tylenol with codeine together with the fentany patch.
Patients with advanced cancer must be provided best analgesia to be in comfort. While Phentanyl is a very strong opioid and very potent analgesic. If she is still in pain she can see other drugs if needed.
No problem with Tylenol, you can use it any time with any drug. However, care should be taken with Codeine as its effect is similar to Fentanyl and both of them when added can causes severe sedation and rarely respiratory depression. So, it can be given if needed but with caution.
Let her doctor know about this, if they want to increase the medicine.
Hope I have answered your question. I will be glad to answer any further question about this.
