General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

It sounds your doctor suspects that your son has epilepsy, for which Valparin (which I believe is valproate) would be appropriate and safe for your son to take. If your son does have epilepsy, it would be safer for him to be on the medication than to continue to have seizures. Usually, when diagnosing epilepsy, a brain EEG would also be done, which your doctor may be planning to do if not done already.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
