Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi I my son aged 2 nd half years he had a convulsion before 2 months nd again he got yesterday. Eeg nd mri were all normal nd he did not had fever too den why is dis happening to him nd doctor has put him on valparin 200 5 ml twice a day .so is dis medicine safe for him .Der wil be no problem in his brain development na.
It sounds your doctor suspects that your son has epilepsy, for which Valparin (which I believe is valproate) would be appropriate and safe for your son to take. If your son does have epilepsy, it would be safer for him to be on the medication than to continue to have seizures. Usually, when diagnosing epilepsy, a brain EEG would also be done, which your doctor may be planning to do if not done already.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Aaron Branch, General & Family Physician
