Is Ventorlin Advisable For Dry Cough In A Child?

Hi my 1 year 8 months had cold for past few days the doctor had prescribed Maxtra syprup 3ml, 3 times in a day. The cold has thicken up and is yellow in colour now by she has started coughing now. It s more like dry cough and it s more when she is sleeping. Can I give ventorlin syrup. It was prescribed to her 2 months back for cough. Please advise. Thanks

I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Ventrolin contain Albuterol as the active ingredient. It is not recommended for children below the age of two years. it will not provide satisfactory results in kids below the age of two years. You can try Benedryl or Asthalin syrups which are safe and effective for children below the age of two. If symptoms persist, you have to consult a pediatrician and antibiotics may needed.
