Is Vermox Safe For Infants?

Hi. My doctor prescribed my 9 months old baby Vermox syrup. After I gave him then read it should not be given to children under 2 years old. Can be harmful to my baby please? After 2 weeks he has severe diarrhoea last for 10 days. But doctors say it s OK.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Just don't worry. Your infant is going to be alright. Of course I do accept that Vermox safety and efficacy are not well studied in

1) Infant is very restless and not feeding well.
2) If he has sunken eyes, dehydrated tongue, pale look.
3) Lost weight
4) If the color of stools is white,green,black and very loose liquid in consistency.
5) If he passes >10 times a day.

Please do remember that clinical examination is the most important thing in case of kids atleast upto 5yrs of age. So my sincere advise is to take your child to a pediatrician if you notice any of the above symptoms.
