Is WBC Count Of 11.4 A Cause For Concern?

I am a 72 year old diabetic on long acting insulin and, metformin and gliburide. My last A1C was 6.2. All of my blood work was normal except my WBC was 11.4 and HGB is 13.5 and my platelet count is 121. I have a history of WBC from 8.5 to 10.6. I do feel more tired than I used to, but I am able to function throughout the day. My doctor says everything is fine. Any comments.

WBC of 11.4 alone is not sufficient to diagnose any disease. You should repeat it after 2 weeks to see if this is increasing or decreasing, it will help us decide what is happening here.
In old age, urinary tract infections are common and those are usually silent and asymptomatic. You should get a Urine Detailed Report to see if there is any signs of infection there.

Have a nice day ahead.

Dr. Munaim
