Is Waltuz DX Advisable For Persistent Cough In An Infant?

My baby is 10 months old and he had viral fever. Doctor prescribed Babygesic for fever, Azee 100 and Maxtra for cough and chest decongestion. We ve given these medicines for prescribed three days. Now fever is gone but has cough. Doctor advised to either to continue with Maxtra 1 ml two times a day for another three days or take Waltuz dx. Which is better Maxtra or Waltuz dx?

Hi Dear ,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query your infant have symptoms of persistent which is due to severe upper respiratory tract infection. It seems due to poor immunity of body you are highly susceptible and prone to infections. The infection is probably a strep throat. Need not to worry. I would suggest you to start with course of antibiotics and anti-inflammatory drugs. . For now do warm saline rinses , take rest. Avoid taking cold beverages. You should take mast cell stabilizers to prevent from infection. I would suggest you to consult pediatrician without any delay . Doctor may order blood test , throat swab test. You should get an x ray of the chest. Doctor may prescribe antibiotics amoxicillin at least for 10 days along with mucolytic agents. Go for complete blood count and platelet count to rule out any hidden systemic pathology. You should avoid hot, sharp and spicy foods. .

Hope your concern has been resolved.
