Is Wikoryl Drops The Right Medicine For Runny Nose,vomiting And Cold In A Child?

Hello, my son is 16 months old, and his weight is 10 kg, he started having running nose and cold from past 2days, I gave him Wikoryl drops 1.5 ml once only, now he has cough and not able to sleep, he vomited twice after coughing, his cough is wet only, what I m supposed to give now,?

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query your child have symptoms of runny nose,vomiting and cold which is due to bacterial infection leading to strep throat along with upper respiratory tract infection. Need not to panic about it. I would suggest you to take Diphenhydramine and Dextromethorphan. Wikoryl drops is right medication to use. Visit pediatrician once and get it examined and start treatment after proper diagnosis. Get X-Ray chest done. Drink lukewarm water throughout the day as it can provide relief. Take soft foods to avoid irritation to the throat. Throat lozenges one every 4 hours is helpful. You should avoid cold carbonated beverages. You should take you take nasal decongestant sprays, antihistamines and antibiotic combination as infection is present. You should take steam inhalation. Do warm saline gargles 3 to 4 times a day.
