Is Z-Pak And Doxycycline Effective For Cold And Head Congestion?

Hi, I am in my 3rd week of head congestion, runny nose, cough and have had intermittent low grade fever (just below 100) for past two weeks. Took Z pack first week, waited a week and am now on last day of doxycycline (whenI started that, I also took a 5 or 6 day steroid pack to relieve the liquid in sinuses. What gives?

Thanks for your question on Health Care Magic.
I can understand your concern.
Z pack is having azithromycin. It is antibiotic.
Doxycyclin is also antibiotic.
You need antihistamine and anti inflammatory drugs along with antibiotics for your cold and head congestion.
No need to take oral steroid.
Avoid oily and spicy food. Avoid hard to chew food. Do steam inhalation 5-6 times a day. Do warm water gargles 5-6 times a day. Drink plenty of fluids orally.
Don't worry, you will be alright in 1week.
Anti inflammatory and antihistamine drugs are prescribed medicines, so better to consult doctor for the them.
Hope I have solved your query.
Wish you good health. Thanks.
