Is Zantac Antacid Pill Advisable During Pregnancy?

Hi Doctor. I m 38 weeks pregnant and I ve been having sleepless nights because of acid reflux. I tried to take natural medication however nothing has changed. I wanted to take zinetac antacid pill. I m not sure if it s safe to take it during pregnancy. Please advise.

Zantac (Ranitidine) is an histamine-2 blocker which acts by suppressing the amount of acid produced by the stomach and hence used in the treatment of gastritis or ulcers in the stomach or intestine.

As far as its safety during pregnancy is concerned, it is FDA Pregnancy Category B drug, which means animal studies have failed to reveal evidence of fetal harm & it's not expected to harm an unborn baby in human beings.

So, it is safe to be taken during pregnancy, get it prescribed from your doctor.
