General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Zyvoxid is a drug used for multi resistant bacteria and very helpful in these cases. Generally the best way to know if a drug (antibiotic) will be effective and totally cure an infection is through a culture.

I would recommend you to have culture of the secretions or samples from the infection and with the culture they also do an antibiograme (antibiotic sensitivity test). It is recommended to follow the results of the antibiograme to start the proper antibiotic. If Zyvoxid is found effective in antibiograme (bacteria is sensitive to it) than very likely it will be effective and eliminate the bacteria. Otherwise the antibiograme will lead the doctor to decide on the most effective antibiotic in your case.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Kind regards,
Antoneta Zotaj, MD
