Is A PICC Line Required For A Tendon Repair Surgery In The Finger?
i got a cut on my finger back in january. i had tendon repair surgery in febuary. as of june it wasnt healed. i got second opinion and was told more surgery. i pulled a stich out of the wound that was stuck in there from the first surgery the night before the second surgery the surgeon said she didn t see much puss and still irrigated the wound and took cultures that grew nothing. they never found any live bugs. yet i was ordered a picc line. i have medicaid so i was told it was the only way they would pay for it. i am a relatively healthy 37 yo man. my question is do i really need this picc or can i remove it? it is causing more irritation than the finger at this point. including a new rash that the dr seems not to think is an issue.
First of all, why does anyone think you need a picc line? Are you receiving high volume fluids and/or antibiotics? If not, you do not need a picc line.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Anders Mark Christensen, General Surgeon
