Is A Chesty Cough With Laryngitis A Cause Of Concern?
I have a chesty cough and slight loss of voice. Do not have any other symptoms and feel okay in myself should this be cause for concern or will it clear up on its own ? This has now been the second day and previously to this I have been suffering with hayfever.
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Noted the history and understood your concerns. My thoughts and suggestions are as below. Chesty cough and slight loss of voice should be taken care of as soon as possible to avoid further complications of increased infection, laryngitis and so on. Hence I would advise you to consult an ENT Surgeon to get a proper ENT Endoscopy, see the problem in pharynx, larynx and go for any further investigations as needed. This will allow your Doctor to give an appropriate management. Till then take steam inhalation. Voice rest means no speaking at all. Take bed rest. Avoid scents and fumes or any irritating things. Avoid sudden temperature changing zones.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
