Almost always, yes. The reason is that 90% of the cholesterol in the body is manufactured by the liver. A high cholesterol level is NOT a disease, but rather a symptom of poor health. In this case it could be an early sign of fatty liver disease. Treating it with a poison is not going to improve the health of the liver, though it will produce a "smoke screen" and reduce the cholesterol count.
