Is A Fleshy Growth From Under A Broken Nail Normal?

I recently cut through my fingernail and side of my ring finger. The nail was completely cut down the middle, and one side is turning purple. My concern is a pink, fleshy growth protruding from the dying nail, and it gets bigger every day, and seems to be pushing the dying nail up. Is this a normal part of healing?
