Is A Hard Lump Caused After A Spider Bite Treatment A Concern?

I was treated for what we believe is a spider bite last Monday. The area started out about 3 inches on my stomach and quickly spread to about 10 inches and was very red. I was given IV antibiotics and clyndemycin to take for two weeks. The redness is gone except for a hard lump about 3 inches long. It is not sore but very hard. What is it and should I go back to the ER?

Hi,
Welcome to Healthcaremagic.com.

I had gone through your question I can understand your concern about your lump on stomach.

As per your history, signs and symptoms it seems to me the post antibiotics swelling called antibioma.

There is no need to worry, it is a lesion which becomes hard at the site of primary infection, it is because of antibiotics. It will take some time and will regress of its own.

If there is pus discharge, hit feeling or fever associated with it you may need to visit an emergency room. Otherwise because of hard swelling there is no need except if it be there more than a month.

Hope my answer will help you and visit us back and provide your feed back to improve our services.

Regards
