Is A Hard Lump In The Armpit A Concern?

I have a hard marble sized lump in the fold of my right armpit. No external lesion. Showed up about 3 to 4 days ago. Tender but not a lot of pain. No history of any cancers in my family. I am a 52 year old male, type 1 diabetic since age 40. What could this lump be? Could it be an infected sweat gland, or possibly cancerous?

Hello,

It could be due to an enlarged lymph node (infection, inflammation or cancerous), sebaceous cyst, an abscess, or ingrown hair infection.

I advise you to visit a surgeon to get it examined and treated accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Mohammed Taher Ali
