Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi, my 13yr old daughter is suffering from extremely high blood pressures. Last Thursday at the Dr. it was 165/117. She has significant renal scarring due to vesicoureteral reflux stage 5 and subsequent renal infections as a young child. She had a bilateral repair 5 years ago. She was released from nephrology care a few years ago, but her pressures have come back much higher than before. We are monitoring and she is on 10mg of enalapril nightly. Her pressures range one day from 119-125 over the mid 83-90, to the next day 140 s over 105-113. I ve also noticed when her pressures are lower her pulse is 102-112, but when on the higher end pulse is running around 80-86. She also has hashi s hypothyroid. and takes 25mg daily for it. Her creitine levels are 0.79 the lab range was 0.50-1.0. What does this mean? They are doing an echocardiogram in 2 days, and may biopsy if warranted. What would they be biopsying?
Hypertension appears secondary to renal scarring. Doctors may have to run DMSA scan to look for scarring. Otherwise they have to look for cardiac cause for hypertension for which they are doing ECHO. They may have to take kidneybiopsy to look for any renal pathology.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
