Is A Large Growth On The Top Of The Head A Concern?

My Husband has a growth on the top of his head. Has been there awhile, just scaly but the past 4-6 wks it has grown up out of his head and gotten about the size of a dime or larger. I showed a pict of it to a Dr friend she thinks its a basil cell crater. My husband is in an Alzheimer s facility Does this sound like what my friend said? And if its a crater does that indicate it is growing inward? I m not sure how invasive to take this What are the pros and cons to treating this?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice

I would advise you to do a CT scan of head. If non-malignant in biopsy test then the growth on head can be removed by surgery.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
