Is A Large Hard Knot On The Left Groin Area A Concern?

My husband had a heart cath 5 days ago at which time they found a 90% blockage when they tried to enter the right groin area so they entered on the left. They inserted a stint to open that blockage. Tonight there seams to be a hard large knot on the left area that is bothering him. Do we need to be concerned?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

Noted that your husband has undergone cardiac catherization through left groin followed by large knot on the left groin area.
This can be due to development of a hematoma after the procedure as one enters the artery with quite a large bore needle.
Most of the times this is self limiting lump.
Get confirmed by the Doctor the nature of the lump.
Anti-inflammatory medications can help a lot.
Ice compresses may help to a certain extent.
Ask him to take a rest and watch for the progress and let your Doctor know the progress.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. T. Chandrakant, General Surgeon
