Is A Nodule In The Lung A Cause For Concern?

In having a CT scan for heart calcification a nodule was discovered in my lung. The Md. reading the scan said to recheck in six months. I have never smoked but breathed my heavy smoking dad s second hand smoke for the first 18 years of life. Does it make sense to wait six months to take another look or should I consult a pulmonologist right away to help determine the best path?

Hello

Lung nodules are either considered noncancerous or cancerous. A noncancerous nodule is called benign, and a cancerous lung nodule is referred to as malignant. Growths that are larger than 3 centimeters are usually called lung masses and typically have a higher chance of being cancerous.
