Is A Non Blistery Burnt Wound A Second Degree Burn?

My fingers touched the coil in my oven at 400-425 degrees Fahrenheit and the burn was immediately white and tough to touch. Its been two hours ands theres no blistering or leaking and only a tiny sting when i push on it. The burns ( two burns on separate fingers) are only about 0.75cmx1.5cm in size. Could they be 3rd degree or are they more likely 2nd degree?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Second degree burns include the epidermis and dermis so there will be blister formation and there will be hyperpigmentation seen on healing of the wound.

The burn you have got maybe a first degree burn with just involvement of the epidermis. Use Burnol ointment and keep the area moisturized more often.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Dr. Jinela Desouza
