Is A Painful Lump On The Chest A Cause For Concern?

My 21 year old son has a lump on his chest right below his nipple, and under the skin. It almost feels like its in the meat part of his breast. Its about the size of a marble. He says it is painful to the touch. He s had it about three months. Is this something we should be concerned about and have looked at?

hi...welcome to healthcare magic.com
Yes..it is important that you see a surgeon at the earliest
swelling beneath nipple is uncommon in males...it could have developed as a result of trauma or maybe it is a case of gynaecomastia( male breast)
since the swelling is associated with pain it is advisable to see the surgeon soon.
Male breasts have a tendency to change cancerous .
