Hi dear,
I have gone through your question and understand your concerns.
Delayed periods can be due to pregnancy, stress or hormonal disturbances like hypothyroidism, hyperprolactemia or polycystic ovarian disease.
Protected intercourse generally do not leads to pregnancy.
Stress due to illness can lead to delayed periods.
I will suggest her to get a urine pregnancy test done, if negative, then she should wait for the periods for one week.
If still not there, then she should get her hormonal profile and ultrasound done to confirm the diagnosis and get appropriate treatment timely.
Hope you found the answer helpful.
