Hi I am a 20 year old female and I have this discolored cheek that looks like a birthmark and I have had it since I was 13 and I know for a fact that I wasnt born with it . Every time I go to the doctors they keep telling me it will go away in a couple of months or what ever but obviously its still there I just wanted to know what it is , what is the cause of it and how to get rid of it please

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi
That is a pigmentation problem that might not go away if just observed since you have had it for long. The origin of the problem could be from sun exposure, skin inflammation or endocrine disorder.I will suggest you get the spot examined by a Dermatologist to judge the need for pigmentation creams. In the meantime, some home measures can help you get rid of the problem:
-Avoid direct sunlight and apply sunscreen lotion occasionally
-Lemon juice application
-Coconut oil/water application
-Lime juice application
-Honey application on spot
However, examination of the spot by the Dermatologist still remains the best thing to do now.
Hope my answer will help you
Best regards
