Is A Persistent Tickling Cough, Post Anastrozole Intake, A Cause For Concern?

I have taken anastrosole for almost two years, a five-year prescription following a lumpectomy, chemo and radiation for breast cancer. I have had a persistent tickling cough since December which I see is a possible side effect. Should I consult my Oncologist or is this just something to deal with while I m on the drug?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

This medication can potentially cause a cough and sore throat so this means that it is possible that it is contributing to your symptoms.

If it is severe then you can speak to your doctor to see if he can suggest a medication that can help to decrease the symptoms eg decongestant/ antihistamine combination, once there is no interaction.

A cough suppressant is also an option as well.

If it is mild and not troublesome, then you can try to see if you deal with the symptoms.

I hope this helps
