Is A Pinkish Ring Around Red And Swollen Area Due To Insect Bite A Cause For Concern?

I got bit by an insect while sleeping 5 nights ago. There are 3 distinct bites. They were red and swollen. Tender to the touch. I applied cortisone daily. I thought they were healing, at least better not worse. But today there is a pinkish ring around the entire area. I took benedryl and applied benedryl ointment. Should I be worried?

Hi,
I understand your concern.
The pinkish ring around insect bite indicate the tissue inflammation due to bite .
If it is accompanied by itching it's allergic in origin & needs local anti allergic ointment ( cortisone/benadryl ) will help. But in case it's hard & tender.. you need some antibiotic & anti inflammatory drugs along with it.
( Erythromycin & Ibuprofhen pills Twice a day after food along with Cetrizine pill at bed time over the counter would help.)
Thanks.
