Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Is A Rash On The Leg Caused By Drug Reaction A Concern?
Apparently I am having a drug reaction to something I am taking. I currently have a rash or welts (mostly on my legs), that I have seen my primary doctor and a skin specialist for. The skin specialist just called and said it was a drug interaction, to call my primary doctor. I can t get in to see my primary doctor until Monday afternoon. Should I go to an urgent care doctor or wait to see my primary care doctor?
I have gone through your medical history carefully and understood your concern.
Let me recapitalize your case: - rash/welts mostly on legs - Dermatologist consulted and confirmed drug interaction; refer to primary doctor - no list of drugs you take is available
If drug interaction is confirmed, then, the best thing to do until you see your primary doctor is to stop every drug you are currently using. If can't stop due to any chronic illness you suffer, then should go to ER as soon as possible to evaluate your clinical presentation and see if you need any urgent care.
Otherwise, you can wait until Monday afternoon to see your primary doctor. Take anti-histaminic for the rash.
Hope this helps. Dr.Albana
