Is A Result Of "hypochromasia As 1+" In Blood Report Indicate?
I received some blood work results today. Everything was in nirmal range except my rdw was a little elevated normal range was listed as 11-14.5%, mine is 14.8%. Then it shows hypochromasia as 1+. Is this something to be concerned with? What does this mean?
Hypochromasia means that the red blood cells have less color than normal when examined under a microscope. This usually occurs when there is not enough of the pigment that carries oxygen (hemoglobin) in the red blood cells.
The most common cause of hypochromia in is not enough iron in the body (iron deficiency). Untreated, this can lead to a disorder called iron deficiency anemia.

i understand your concern Hypochromasia means that the red blood cells have less color than normal when examined under a microscope. A little variation in rdw is normal. i would advice you to consume nutritious , balanced diet and make sure you consume RDA of iron everyday.
