Hi, One of my friend met with accident recently, He got hurt at shoulder region front side and right wrist. He had ortho surgery to right hand wrist and all the wounds and completely clear now. But He is unable to lift his right hand. Intially he was unable to sense the touch, slowly he gained the sense of touch then he is able to move his fingers little bit, he still cannot sense his tumb and little finger but he is able to move those fingers. Expect the fingers the other parts of the hand he is unable to move. When consulted doctor they told like his nerves at the right hand shoulder were damaged/cut during accident. and they suggested him to under go surgery. Will he be able to become normal ? will he be able to lift/move his hand after surgery ? what exactly is the problem and how long it takes for him to become normal ? please help me. Thanks in advance.

Is A Right Shoulder Surgery Advisable For Damaged Nerves Caused After A Injury?
Hello, You can go for arthroscopic repair. Consult a sports surgeon and he will direct you accordingly. Early return to work is possible with the arthroscopic procedures. However, the outcome will depend on the severity of the nerve damage. Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Take care Regards, Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
