I just bought a 50 lb bag of potatoes and picked them up and put them in my car about an hour after I got home I started feeling a pain like someone kicked me in the lower right side of my stomach. Like right directly in front of my kidney and I feel kind of sick to my stomach. did I maybe get a hurnia or strained muscle.

Yes, It may be due to strained muscle. Lifting heavy bag stretch abdominal muscles and may cause pain. I do not think the case of hernia. Hernia take long time to develop. You should take muscle relaxant pill to get relieve your abdominal pain. You may visit your family physician for physical examination if pain persists.
