Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi, I had a tooth pulled 4 days ago. I have not had any pain and I followed the rules the dentist gave me. today after eating lunch I felt something weird so I put my tongue where the tooth was pulled from and it feels like there is a piece of flesh and a suture hanging. is that normal?
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..
As per your complain it seems that of you are having a hanging suture and a hanging piece of flesh, there is a possibility that there is tear of mucosa from the suture or there is opening up of a suture and the gum flap is hanging.. It is not a normal finding but is not anything very serious rather.. I would however suggest you to consult your treating dentist and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation can be done so that he can also confirm that the flesh is gum mucosa and not the healing tissue that if gets dislodged can lead to unhealed socket.. As of now avoid gargling vigorously and take a soft diet.. Avoid chewing from that side where extraction is done..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora.
