Is A Skin Tissue Hanging From The Right Tonsil A Cause For Concern?

Hi, I have what looks like some skin tissue hanging from my right tonsil. It s not painful at all but it s very uncomfortable as it touches the back of my throat and makes me feel very sick. I can feel it there all of the time. I m not sure what it is or if I should be worried about it?

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of skin tissue hanging from the right tonsil which seems to be due to swollen uvula and it could be tonsilloliths also known as tonsil stones or tonsillar calculi . This tends to happen most often in people who have chronic inflammation in their tonsils.

Need not to worry. I would suggest you to

- Do warm saline rinses.
- Maintain complete hygiene.
- Avoid taking sharp and spicy food.
- Take proper course of anti inflammatory medication if it is troubling you.

You should consult ENT specialist for proper examination and to rule out condition like pus formation and tonsil burst . Doctor may remove them through minor surgery and put you on antibiotics to subside any infection.
